The Mzansi Spelling Bee is a national English spelling challenge for spellers between nine and 17 years of age in South Africa. It uses the game, competition, social media, new media and live spelling bee events to nurture a love of language and words.

Dada, who is in Grade 9 at Sacred Heart College, loves reading and learning new words.

“I really enjoy reading, and by doing that, I come across new words. If I don’t know the word, I look it up in the dictionary which helps me with preparing for the spelling bee,” said Dada.
