Police investigate hijacking in Highlands North

The Norwood police are investigation are hijacking that took place in Highlands North.

 

The Norwood police are currently investigating the hijacking of a delivery vehicle in Highlands North that took place on 17 June.

Spokesperson for Norwood Police Station Captain Elliot Tshivhase said that the victim was driving his company delivery vehicle in Highlands North along Louis Botha Avenue and Main Road. “The driver stopped at a store to collect money for the company. He sent a crew member to collect the money while he remained behind,” said Tshivhase.

While the driver was waiting, two unknown armed suspects made their way to the victim’s vehicle and pointed their firearms at him and ordered him to move to the passenger seat as they commandeered the vehicle.

The suspects, with the driver held captive, drove towards Lyndhurst where they robbed his of the company money to the amount of R5 000 and took the company vehicle after leaving him stranded.

Tshivhase said, “The victim managed to make his way back to Norwood Police Station to report the matter. No arrests have been made as of yet and the case is still being investigated.”
