More residents invited to sign petition to close down Fairmount Bowling Club and Sports Grounds

This petition will help the City with their infringement notice to the restaurant's owner

A move to close down Fairmount Bowling Club and Fairmount Sports Grounds is well underway with more people still invited to support by signing a petition that is making rounds in the area.

Residents are complaining about a loud noise coming from a restaurant situated in the premises of the bowls club saying it is unbearable.

They also say they are irritated by a lack of service at the sporting facility saying it lack maintenance and pose serious crime danger.

A petition has been doing rounds in various parts of Fairmount since May in the neighbourhood and facilitators said they are now targeting support from Sandringham residents.

Wendy Daras, one of the facilitators, said the petition has found a new home to drum up support from their neighbours.

“Those who are concerned about the goings on and the noise generated from the Fairmount Bowling Club and Sports Grounds go to sign the petition.

“People can go to Beit Yosef shop next to Moos and Tiberius Fish Emporium on George Avenue in Sandringham,” said Daras.

City of Joburg entity, Johannesburg Property Company (JPC) is supporting the residents and even endorsed a petition saying it will help with their infringement notice to the owner.

“JPC would welcome such a petition, as this will enable us to enforce the infringement and take further action. JPC takes all stakeholders very seriously and all concerns will be addressed within the framework best suited to benefit the greater community and residents alike,” said JPC’s Faaeqa Omar.
