ANC leader in the dock for the alleged illegal sale of a house

JOBURG – Community leader together with two other accused persons in court for allegedly defrauding a potential home buyer of more than R100 000.

 

ANC member and community leader, Simphiwe Hlafa appeared briefly in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on 14 June.

Hlafa together with his two other co-accused, Mthokozisi Magwara and Nokuthula Mkhize are facing charges of fraud and theft.

The three allegedly defrauded a potential home buyer of more than R100 000 in what was supposed to be a house sale. It is understood that the victim was allegedly defrauded of his pension payout by the three accused who allegedly acted under false pretences of being estate agents.

The matter was postponed to allow the State to give copies of the docket to the defence.

They are all out on R2 000 bail and will be back in court on 30 June where a trial date is expected to be set.
