103 suspects are arrested in 1 week thanks to Joburg East Cluster officers

JOBURG – The Johannesburg East Cluster made 103 arrests in one week.

 

The police stations under the Johannesburg East Cluster arrested 103 suspects between 28 May to 4 June.

Officers from Jeppe, Cleveland, Hillbrow, Rosebank, Norwood, Yeoville and Parkview police stations were patrolling their precincts when they made the arrests. Some of the suspects were on the wanted list after cases were opened against them, while others were arrested with assistance from the community.

The arrests were:

  • 14 for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm
  • 5 for common assault
  • 7 for theft
  • 2 for malicious damage to property
  • 3 for possession of unlicensed firearms
  • 1 for possession of stolen goods
  • 8 for dealing in dagga
  • 8 for possession of drugs
  • 1 for rape
  • 2 for murder
  • 3 for shoplifting
  • 6 for armed robbery
  • 2 for fraud
  • 1 for common robbery
  • 5 for business robbery
  • 1 for possession of a dangerous weapon
  • 2 for hit and run
  • 3 for warrants of arrests
  • 1 for sexual assault
  • 1 for reckless and negligent driving
  • 1 for drinking in public
  • 2 for business break-ins
  • 24 for driving under the influence of liquor.

“Most of the suspects have already appeared in different courts while others are yet to appear. Some have paid fines and bail while others are remanded in custody while investigations are continuing,” said Captain Richard Munyayi spokesperson for the Johannesburg East Cluster.
