Knitting for Mandela Day gears up

LYNDHURST – The residents of Tarentaal Village knit for a good cause.

Residents of Tarentaal Village in Lyndhurst have been knitting up a storm for the Jeppe High School for Girls’ blanket drive for Mandela Day.

Deputy manager of the village, Laetitia Goosen said, “In no time, they knitted 315 squares, enough for 11 blankets.”

The blankets were recently handed to a Jeppe parent, Desiree Reveley, who will hand them out to underprivileged members of the community.

Goosen added that they aim to donate 67 blankets to the school’s cause.

Spokesperson for the village, Cathy Grosvenor said, “Desiree’s dad, Duncan Prillwitz, who is a Tarentaal resident, played his part too by organising sufficient donations to ensure that the energetic ladies did not run out of wool.”
