BREAKING NEWS: Armed men break into Kameraz shop at Rosebank Mall

ROSEBANK – No one was present when five armed men broke in at Kameraz in Rosebank Mall.

A break-in took place in the early hours of the morning of 2 June at the Kameraz shop in Rosebank Mall.

The Rosebank Mall general manager Danie de Beer said in a statement the perpetrators entered the shop before trading had begun and only targeted the Kameraz shop. “The scene has been secured and no one was injured during the incident,” said De Beer.

According to Vanessa Roux, officer manager of the Kameraz store, said the camera footage showed four suspects shatter the glass doors of the store before entering. One suspect was carrying a gun while the other three suspects were carrying crowbars. The break-in occurred between 4am and 5am.

“They clearly had a shopping list because they knew exactly what they were going for,” says Roux. “They took cameras and lenses but we don’t know the value of the goods stolen.”

Bongi Mdletshe, spokesperson for the Rosebank Police Station, said the suspects had broken a door at the Bath Street entrance to the mall and made their way to the Kameraz shop.

Although footage shows four suspects, Mdletshe believes there may have been more suspects involved in the incident.

No suspects have been arrested and the police are busy with their investigation. The mall is currently operating as usual.
