Bling Day, a charitable event held by Parktown High School for Girls Grade 11 Potted Sports Committee was a great success.
“Through exhilarating music, the Bling Day crew and constant enthusiasm – the hype for this year’s Bling Day – was a day like no other,” said Ruby Barry, chairperson of the committee.
The committee recently set aside a morning where each registered class creates an assigned image using coins they have collected. All proceeds collected on the day went to the charity, Hearts of Hope, which is an organisation that accommodates vulnerable and orphaned children, facilitating their adoptions and reuniting them with their families.
This year’s theme for Bling Day was emojis.
Each house was assigned a category and each register class an emoji within that category. The registered classes were encouraged to portray their emojis creatively and were required to have a mascot to accompany the image of their emoji.
The girls’ coin collections really paid off, leading the entire school to raise a stupendous amount of more than R18 000.
