JPC welcomes petition
FAIRMOUNT – JPC supports petition to close Fairmount Bowling Club.
The Johannesburg Property Company (JPC) has welcomed the initiative by residents of Fairmount to sign a petition and force the City of Joburg to close down the Fairmount Bowling Club indefinitely.
A petition is currently doing rounds in the neighbourhood, with residents signing it to show their support in favour closing down the controversial facility, with residents citing noise as the reason.
The property company told North Eastern Tribune that they welcome the petition as it will make addressing various infringements easier. Spokesperson Faeeqa Omar said the they have served the bowling club with an infringement notice for its noise pollution.
“JPC would welcome such a petition, as this will enable us to enforce the infringement and take further action. JPC takes all stakeholders very seriously and all concerns will be addressed within the framework best suited to benefit the greater community and residents alike,” said Omar.
According to Omar, the property company had spent over R300 000 to rehabilitate the facility over the past month. He said they had just completed a clean-up operation of the entire sports field, including the replacement of the fencing on Elray Street.
Asked if there are plans to lease the facility to interested parties wanting to utilise it, Omar said the council will have to approve such a move. “The facility is a public facility and requires Council approval.
“Council approval was obtained to re-tender the property, which will be published in major newspapers on 19 May 2019.”
