Joburg police arrest 32 for various crimes committed during crime combating operations

JOBURG – 32 suspects brought to book for various offences committed during 24-hour crime combating operations.

The long arm of the law brought 32 suspects to book for various offences committed during 24-hour crime combating operations conducted by Joburg Central Cluster police stations from 11 May to 12 May.

The suspects were arrested around Mondeor, Boysens, Moffatview, Langlaagte, Fairlands, Sophiatown, Brixton and the Joburg CBD. “Among the suspects who were arrested during the operations; two were for possession of a stolen motor vehicle, one for attempted murder, three for malicious damage to property and one for attempted rape,” said Joburg Central spokesperson, captain Xoli Mbele.

“The rest of the suspects were arrested for committing other crimes ranging from common theft, assault, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, shoplifting, possession of suspected stolen property and drugs to fraud. The suspects have been detained and will appear in various courts at the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court soon.”
