Councillor warns of bogus City Power workers in Johannesburg

CRAIGHALL – Ward 90 councillor Martin Williams urges residents to check if a person is really a City Power official before allowing them onto the premises.

Ward 90 councillor Martin Williams has warned community members that not everyone who claims to be from City Power is legit.

“It has come to our attention that there are individuals illegally posing as City Power officials. I wish to urge residents not to allow any person, technician or contractor onto their property without first verifying credentials with City Power’s Risk Control Unit,” said Virgil James from City Power.

City Power technicians must have an identification card with a photograph, identity verification number, expiry date and hologram. Community members can check the legitimacy of the employee by phoning 011 490 7911, 011 490 7553 or 011 490 7900.

“Please report any suspicious activity or contractors without ID to the numbers above. Risk Control will dispatch a response vehicle immediately to your premises,” concluded James.
