Woman survives brutal knife attack in Hillbrow

HILLBROW – A woman in her mid-20's put up a defiant fight and became the victim of a malicious knife attack as two blood-thirsty criminals made for her possessions in Hillbrow on 3 May.

A woman in her mid-20s was the target of two vicious criminals near Vannin Court, a hijacked building located in Hillbrow, at about 5.45am on 3 May as she was making her way to work.

The unsuspecting victim was walking near the infamous Quartz and Peterson Street intersection when two knife-wielding assailants sprung upon her before demanding her cellphone.

“The victim resisted and one of the suspects allegedly stabbed her, resulting in the woman sustaining multiple injuries on both hands,” said Hillbrow Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo.
“Two cellphones were taken from the victim, with one recovered near the scene of the incident, after the suspects fled on foot. A case of robbery and grievous bodily harm has been opened and is currently being investigated by the police.”

The woman was transported to Charlotte Maxeke Hospital for treatment and has since been discharged. Zondo added that police investigations have turned up some promising leads. “The suspects are still at large, but police are following some handy leads in the hope of making arrests soon.”
