WATCH: CARE celebrates World Autism Day in style
ORANGE GROVE – World Autism Awareness Day, celebrated annually on 2 April, aims to increase awareness about autism, especially for children affected by the disorder.
Children of the Centre for Autism, Research and Education (CARE) in Orange Grove had a fun-filled day on 30 March when they celebrated World Autism Day.
Children were hosted at Rush in Greenstone and were treated to jam-packed fun-filled activities.
World Autism Awareness Day, celebrated annually on 2 April, aims to increase awareness about autism, especially for children affected by the disorder.
The day often features educational events for teachers, healthcare workers and parents, as well as exhibitions showcasing work created by children with autism.
CARE, however, preferred to take their children out on a fun day and let them enjoy this day significantly – jumping high.
About 40 children and 33 staff members of CARE spent more than an hour at Rush jumping and enjoying a variety of fun activities to enjoy their day.
They were treated to a big form-pit, dodge ball court, free jump, wall walk/run, basketball court as well as a battle beam.
It was all fun and joy and according to CARE director and founder, Rozanna Riback, the children reached the sky.
Riback said their day was amazing adding that this was more than they expected, thanks to the generosity of Rush which sponsored the whole event and even served food and refreshments.
“How amazing the trampolines they have here and children really loved them,” she said. “What a way to celebrate World Autism Day.
“Children generally love to jump and this is what they did today and they really enjoyed it. You wouldn’t even realise that they have autism.”
