On 5 April, in its true pioneering style, Glenfiddich whisky producer launched the Independent Bar in Johannesburg, the first concept bar in South Africa to use biometric technology to produce cocktails based on one’s voice characteristics.

Situated in the heart of the eccentric Braamfontein, the Independent Bar delivers an unexpected experience by encapsulating innovation, art and design in a way that has never been done before.

And what a perfect setting for an idea such as this. Braamfontein is one of the most innovative areas in Joburg, boasting a number of exciting ideas and events such as rooftop venue, The Beach, Neighbourgoods Market, the music and food market that began a nationwide trend and many more exciting firsts for Johannesburg.

To introduce Glenfiddich’s pioneering concept, the brand handpicked a selection of guests to be the first of the few to experience the premium offering. Guests experienced an exciting lifestyle even, enjoying delectable tapas, which complimented the full range of award-winning variants and the newly launched drinks from their Experimental Series.

With capacity limited to 50 guests per night, the Independent Bar is open for three months only from Thursday to Saturday, from 7pm to midnight, and is exclusively by invitation only.

EXCLUSIVE: This bar is only open to 50 people at a time and entrance is granted on invitation only.

Guests who were seen at the bar since its opening have been television presenters Chris Jaftha, Thando Thabethe and other familiar faces on the social scene.
