Metro Cop Chief signals out strong message to potential law breakers

JOBURG – Chief Superintendent, Wayne Minnaar, says a zero tolerance approach towards the contravention of the law can be expected this Easter long weekend.

A no-holds-barred approach to those who break the rules will be in order this Easter long weekend. According to Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar, Metro Police spokesperson, those who contravene the law will not be treated in kind.

“Metro Police officers will be out in full force this Easter long weekend. Road blocks will be set-up and officers will be [deployed] along all major routes as well as in both townships and suburban areas,” he said.

“Together with the South African Police and other law enforcement, officers will be out day and night to ensure that there is zero tolerance towards [both] reckless and drunken driving. Those who don’t obey the law will be arrested and locked up at police stations, wherein they will have to apply for bail.”

Minnaar added, “Motorists are requested to look out for pedestrians. Any driver who bumps and kills a pedestrian will be required to appear in court faced with charges of culpable homicide.”
