37-year-old man arrested with drugs worth R100k

JOBURG – The police's Joburg Provincial Drug Unit arrested a man in connection with drug dealing on 11 April, uncovering drugs to the value of R100k in the process.

 

Acting on a tip-off, the Joburg Provincial Drugs Unit arrested a 37-year-old male in connection with drug dealing on the corner of Small and Pritchard streets on 11 April.

“Police received a tip-off from a community member about the suspect allegedly selling the drugs and they followed that information,” said Joburg Central police spokesperson, captain Xoli Mbele. He said that after observation, police noticed the suspect selling what appeared to be drugs. Police then moved in and arrested him

BUSTED: The suspect remanded in police custody pending his appearance at the Joburg Magistrates’ Court on drug dealing charges.

“Once in police custody, the suspect granted police permission to search his flat where they discovered more drugs with a total street value of R100 000, R1 900 in cash and a scale. A police investigation is underway and the suspect will soon appear in the Joburg Magistrates’ Court on drug-related charges.”

Mbele extended his thanks to the community for their proactive efforts in the fight against crime. “The police would like to thank members of the community for being our eyes and ears in the fight against crime. Keep up the good work.”
