Craighall Park residents gathered along various intersections on Jan Smuts Avenue to show their discontentment toward President Jacob Zuma on 7 April, which has been deemed a day of national protest.

Zuma has received increasing amounts of criticism following the cabinet reshuffle last week.

Joyce Jabane and Sadheer Maharaj join the protests on the corner of Jan Smuts Avenue and Buckingham Lane.

Residents gathered on the corner of Jan Smuts Avenue and Conrad Drive and urged motorists to hoot in support of ‘saving South Africa’.

Craighall Park residents gather along various intersections on Jan Smuts Avenue to show President Jacob Zuma their lack of confidence in his leadership.

“I’m marching because I’ve had enough and this is a beautiful country,” said protester, Penny Bramwell-Jones. “It’s time everybody stands together and speaks up. I’m tired of Zuma stealing from us. Zuma, you are stealing from us, from our children, from our grandchildren. All of our tax money has been fiddled away for your own selfish ways. We’ve had enough of you and have no respect for you. Zuma, you are junk.”

Further along Jan Smuts Avenue at the Buckingham Lane intersection, Joyce Jabane and Sadheer Maharaj stood together to urge Zuma to give the country back.

A lady selling mealies also joined in the protest.

“I’m so unhappy with Zuma; he’s not my president,” said Jabane.

“I don’t want us to end up like Zimbabwe. We are the best part of Africa. I cannot just sit and complain on Twitter. And I’m not immigrating for this.”

These were one of many protests around Johannesburg and numerous motorists drove flying the South African flag high as they hooted to show their support.

Bramwell-Jones concluded, “Zuma, you are not my president and our souls are not for sale.”
