Integrated Development Planning invites local wards to a public meeting

SANDRINGHAM – The meeting is not meant to discuss daily service delivery issues.

Ward 72, 73, 74 and 81 residents are invited to a public meeting to discuss the future of their wards and also to propose new viable ideas.

The meeting is part of Integrated Development Planning (IDP) and is organised by the City of Joburg, said Ward 72 councillor, Steven Kruger.

He said IDP was the process for developing the five-year capital budget for the City. The meeting will be held on 3 April at Jabula Recreation Centre in Athlone Avenue, Sandringham from 5pm to 8pm.

The objectives of the meeting, according to Kruger, is to explain how the IDP process works, to promote public participation in the process, to give feedback on issues raised by stakeholders in the past few years and to get input from stakeholders on future IDP projects.

“It is very useful for residents to attend these meetings as it gives them the opportunity to find out what capital projects are planned for their areas over the next 12 months.

“At the same time, they can give input on the projects that they would like to see, such as upgrading of parks and recreational facilities, as well as requesting roads to be resurfaced,” said Kruger.

According to Kruger senior management from the region and the City will attend the meeting.

He said it was important to note that this meeting was not meant to discuss daily service delivery issues such as potholes, billing, streetlights and refuse collection.
