An evening under the stars and with the stars of new Afrikaans movie, Jagveld, at the Wanderers Stadium

MELROSE – Highveld Lions cricket players join Jagveld stars for unique screening.

It was a pleasant evening spent outdoors and under the stars for the special outdoor screening of the new Afrikaans movie, Jagveld, at the Wanderers Stadium.

The film’s actors were joined by the Highveld Lions cricket players for this unique movie experience and to promote local films. Marketing manager for Times Media Films, Corlize Luttig said, “Times Media Films has worked successfully with the Bizhub Highveld Lions cricket brand before on movie campaigns. This time, we wanted to raise the bar and offer cricket and movie fans alike a different outdoor movie experience by ending off the Jagveld cinema tour at the Wanderers Stadium.”

Jagveld was written by thriller novelist, Deon Meyer and set in the Karoo. Luan Jacobs, who portrays Piet said, “The Karoo was like having another character in the movie. We experienced four seasons in one day, but it was a really amazing location. We were all excited to film this new genre in Afrikaans film and are seeing a real renaissance with films in South Africa.”

CEO for the Gauteng Cricket Board, Greg Fredericks said, “We are in the process of activating more and more commercial projects to prove that the home of the Lions, Bidvest Wanderers, is not only a world-class stadium but that it is also ideal for events such as these. The partnership with Times Media Films is exciting and we can now embark on more projects to strengthen both brands.”

Luttig concluded, “The Highveld Lions players thoroughly enjoyed the evening and fans were ecstatic about the opportunity of watching a movie among their favourite cricketers and, of course, the cast of the movie. We look forward to hosting fans at many more such unique movie events at the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium in the near future.”
