Check meter reading dates online

JOBURG – The schedule is available at www.joburg.org.za.

If you are unsure of when the City of Johannesburg will read your water and electricity meters, the City’s new online system which provides these dates might help.

The City’s group finance spokesperson, Kgamanyane Maphologela said the new billing regionalisation has made it possible for customers to track the dates online when they can prepare to have their meters read.

“One of the challenges the City faces when trying to read meters is that properties are often inaccessible. The online service can assist customers to note the meter reading dates in their areas and make arrangements so that their meters can be read,” he said.

The first phase of billing regionalisation was launched on 1 February.

Maphologela said the billing regionalisation will see the City streamlining its billing operations, which will result in improved billing accuracy.

“It will improve the ability of customers to choose their own due dates, regional meter reading, reduce long estimate billing and audit queries, limit collection dates and informed reporting per region to afford improvement and problem-solving,” explained Maphologela.

You can check the online meter reading schedule by visiting the City’s website at www.joburg.org.za and click on the e-services then enter your suburb or area to get the schedule.
