Members of the Joburg Social Movement were expected to protest on 16 and 17 March in the Johannesburg CBD, however, they have postponed the protest to 21 March.

Metro police had warned the public to avoid using the roads in and around the city centre as they believed the protest could turn violent. The co-convener of the Joburg Social Movement, Stanley Itshegetseng, said they would apply for permission from Metro police and the march would be peaceful.
