He’s Unplugged and InCharge

JOBURG – Social change is his main aim.

As a South African, it is important to facilitate change and there’s one man who is working hard bringing about social change in the country.

Lesego Maphanga, is a young business-minded man who aims to create social change by captaining a movement in South Africa. At just 27 years old, he is well on his way to greater things, mastering his interests in radio, social entrepreneurship and his career in corporate banking – not to mention him dominating social media with a combined following of more than 40 000.

With accolades in corporate South Africa, radio and his unwavering spirit in helping the underprivileged through social entrepreneurship, this man is changing the country.

As a systems engineer and transformation champion, Maphanga prides himself on his ethical ways of conducting business, which he proudly maintains was developed during the time he was an engineering student at the University of Pretoria.

This is where he found the inspiration to co-found Unplugged and InCharge, a social entrepreneurship movement aimed at empowering the youth to strive to better themselves through education and entrepreneurial activities.

Founded with two of his friends, Unplugged and InCharge collaborates with institutions to sponsor financially struggling students at universities and running motivational programmes.

In addition, the local change agent has featured on a Cliff Central radio show, Gentlemen by Choice, where he showcases his energy, passion and confidence in hosting, touching on youthful conversations around education, business and current affairs.

It was after a research paper on Re-engineering how corporates view social impact in his honours year that he was scooped up by Standard Bank, where he currently works as a manager of process design in Rosebank.

Looking forward to taking his passions to the people and continuing in all his endeavours he hopes to ‘keep making mum proud’.
