This time, the purpose of her visit was to inform schoolchildren that crime does not pay and also included the topic of bullying and theft at school. She stressed that it was important to remember that committing a crime may have serious consequences, such as being put behind bars for a very long time.
The children were from Grade R to 7 and Phoko stressed the importance of knowing how to contact the police at any time, should they feel in danger. She told them to try and memorise the police’s number so that they are reminded that help is just one call away.
Phoko concluded the talk by letting the schoolchildren know that they must not see the police as strangers but as the people who will protect them at all times.
