#HillbrowShooting: Investigation continues

HILLBROW – Police investigations in the case of the murdered family of five in a Hillbrow apartment continue.

Following the horrific killing of a family of five, including three women and two minors, in a ninth floor apartment at Madison Square in Hillbrow, police are hard at work in an attempt to make a break in the case.

Speaking to City Buzz, captain Mavela Masondo of the Hillbrow Police Station, said that investigations are continuing and that leads are being followed. “We are following more leads having also viewed the video footage from the building. We’ve taken statements from the security [personnel] at the building, which forms part of the investigation,” he said.

Although no arrests have been made, Masondo indicated that police are hoping that an arrest is imminent, given the leads that have been followed up until this point. Commenting on the two-year-old female child found at the scene, Masondo said that family members of the deceased had come forward and have taken the child into their care.

Since the start of the week, parts of Hillbrow and the CBD have been ravaged by gun violence, which has claimed the lives of approximately nine people, including two children.
City Buzz will provide updates on the case of the murdered family of five as more updates become available.
