Two killed after taxi overturns in Hillbrow

HILLBROW – Two die as taxi overturns and rolls multiple times.

Two passengers are said to have died instantly and 15 injured, seven of them critically, when a minibus taxi overturned a number of times down a hill and crashed into a precast wall at the corner of Joubert and Sam Hancock streets in Hillbrow at 8am.

The injured patients were rushed to various hospitals. Metro police dispatched to the scene were still trying to determine the exact cause of the horror crash.

A taxi rolled multiple times before crashing into a precast wall in Hillbrow this morning, killing two people and injuring 15.

Metro police spokesperson, Wayne Minnaar said, “The taxi was driving towards Joubert Street and overturned in Sam Hancock Street in Hillbrow. I can confirm that two people died and others in the taxi were injured and rushed to various hospitals. The cause of the accident will be investigated by Metro police”
