129 arrests made by Johannesburg East Cluster

JOBURG – The Johannesburg East Cluster has shared its successful arrests.

 

From 16 to 22 January, the Johannesburg East Cluster arrested 129 suspects.

“The suspects were arrested for committing crimes ranging from assault to murder and rape,” said Captain Richard Munyayi, spokesperson for Jeppe Police Station. The cluster is made up of seven police stations, thus Cleveland, Jeppe, Hillbrow, Rosebank, Parkview, Norwood and Yeoville.

The suspects were arrested for the following:

  • 2 for rape
  • 4 for armed robbery
  • 18 for common assault
  • 19 for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm
  • 7 for theft
  • 1 for theft of a dog
  • 1 for theft of cables
  • 2 for attempted murder
  • 17 for drinking and driving
  • 4 for possession of unlicensed firearms
  • 8 for possession of drugs
  • 1 for fraud
  • 2 for malicious damage to property
  • 6 for possession of suspected stolen property
  • 6 for shoplifting
  • 6 for possession of dagga
  • 1 for kidnapping and assault
  • 1 for possession of dangerous weapons
  • 8 for common robbery
  • 3 for housebreaking and theft
  • 1 for sexual assault
  • 2 for intimidation
  • 6 for reckless and negligent driving
  • 1 illegal immigrant arrested
  • 1 for trespassing
  • 1 for driving without a licence.

The suspects have appeared in different courts, some have paid their fines while others are out on bail and others remain in prison.
