Man wanted in connection with attempted murder

JEPPE – Jeppe police are looking for a suspect in connection with an attempted murder.

Jeppe police urgently need the public’s help and have issued an identikit of a suspect wanted for questioning in connection with an attempted murder.

According to Jeppe police spokesperson Captain Richard Munyai, a 31-year-old complainant alleged that he was approached by an unknown suspect on his way from work at Kaserne train station on 15 December last year.

“The suspect pointed a firearm at him and ordered him to stop. The complainant had a Samsung Galaxy J2 cellphone and R20 which he took out of his pocket and put down,” said Munyai.

The suspect took the R20 and the cellphone and walked towards the Jeppe hostel. “The complainant followed him asking for the sim card and the suspect pointed the firearm at his forehead and shot one shot, but missed,” added Munyai.

“The suspect ran into a dark place and disappeared.”

The complainant reported the matter and a case of armed robbery and attempted murder was opened. The suspect is tall, of medium build and dark in complexion. The police are appealing to anyone who might recognise him to contact the investigating officer, Detective Constable Ismael Ngcoza.
