The City of Johannesburg said ward committees played an important role in municipal affairs in that they assisted democratically elected public representatives to carry out their mandate.

It is important to note that only people who live in Ward 117, which includes Saxonwold, Parkwood, Parktown North, Parkhurst, Rosebank Pink Park and Blairgowrie, are eligible to vote. Persons must be registered to vote.

“It is imperative that as many people as possible vote as it’s vital that we get a strong ward committee to work with our councillor, Tim Truluck and the City to ensure that our services are reliable and that our suburbs are maintained. We can be the go-to person that can assist to ensure that service delivery happens and hold the City accountable,” said Fran Haslam, a ward committee candidate.
