No joy with JRA

PARKWOOD – A sidewalk remains unattended to despite numerous calls to the JRA.

A pavement in Parkwood remains in an undesirable state following flash floods last November that destroyed many suburbs, costing the City millions.

According to Owen Baxter, Operations Manager at McNabs Wealth, First Avenue East in Parkwood resembled a river when it was affected. Fortunately, the high water levels did not damage the office building or any property within but left the pavement unsightly and dangerous to walk on.

Baxter claims that the business has on numerous occasions contacted the Johannesburg Roads Agency for assistance, to no avail. “We have reported the problem and nothing has happened,” said Baxter.

“The thing that concerns us the most is that the internet fibre cables are lying bare.”

Baxter expressed his disappointment with the service from the roads agency and added that the City should fix the pavement to prevent potential injuries.

When contacted, the roads agency said they were aware of the matter and that an investigation [on the failure to attend to the pavement] would commence soon.
