Melrose Arch luxury vehicle dealership burgled

MELROSE ARCH – A group of thieves used a grinder to get into the dealership's safe to retrieve the car keys.

 

As night fell on 21 January a group of thieves entered Infiniti Motors, a luxury vehicle dealership in Melrose Arch, and made away with six luxury vehicles.

With very expensive taste, the group allegedly made off with six luxury cars which included a Land Rover‚ BMW X6‚ three Mercedes-Benz vehicles and a Toyota Land Cruiser.

“The suspects managed to grind through the safe and retrieve the keys for the six cars that were taken. The total of the cars stolen adds up to millions of rands,” said provincial police spokesperson, Captain Kay Makhubela.

He added that there was no one at the dealership at the time of the burglary. A case of business burglary and theft was opened by the dealership with the police. Infiniti motors declined to comment on the theft.

Makhubela confirmed that three of the cars were recovered on 22 January in various areas. One vehicle was found in Berea, another in Kensington and the third car was found in Yeoville.

“We recovered two Mercedez-Benz [vehicles] and one Land Rover, however, no arrests have been made yet as the case is still under investigation.”
