Smooth first day for Grade 1s

ROSEBANK – Minister of justice and correctional services Michael Masutha visited Rosebank Primary School recently.

Rosebank Primary School was recently surprised with a visit from the Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Michael Masuthal, Dr Cathy Motaung, head of Parliamentary Constituency Office in Rosebank, and former ward councillor, Joy Coplan.

They visited the school as part of a school readiness programme initiated by the Parliamentary Constituency Office to ensure the smooth running of the first day of school.

The minister addressed the Grade 1s and welcomed them to big school and assured them that it was very exciting and that they should not be nervous and scared.

When Motaung asked what the eager Grade 1s wanted to be, with excitement, one little girl said she wanted to be a ballerina and a little boy wanted to be a security guard.

Great excitement erupted when the minister handed out party packs.

“We can safely report that all was running smoothly except for one incident where the minister intervened with a late application for Grade 1. We found the parent crying because her daughter was not accepted because the application did not meet the requirements. The child was accepted after a lengthy discussion with the district and principal,” said Motaung.
