Excellence applauded

PARKVIEW – Resident praises professional service by the men in blue.

Parkhurst resident Tom Ballantyne, who has lived in the area for more than a decade, has showered Parkview police members with praise for their excellent service and what he referred to as professionalism.

In a letter to the station commander, Colonel Theledi Gopane, Ballantyne stated that he had always, without fail, been met with efficiency from Parkview officers, both in public and at the station.

“I feel a special mention is more than necessary when it comes to the latest dealings I have had with two of your members recently while at your station – Warrant Officer Madie Rapolai and administration clerk Mapitsi Mamaile,” Ballantyne wrote.

“I am well aware of the public’s perception of public servants and the easiest way out for a member of the public is to complain and I would like to, at the very least, commend the professionalism and warmth shown to me.”

Ballantyne, who was faced with the task of renewing his firearm licence and to obtain police clearance as required by his line of business, went on to say in his letter that he was treated as a VIP every time, and commended the members for making his recent experience pleasant.

“Mamaile gave me invaluable advice regarding the process of acquiring a police clearance speedily. This valuable advice has ensured I can renew my licence on time, her attitude towards her work is refreshing and I feel she went above and beyond to assist me in this process.

“Rapolai, who assisted me from start to finish in the process of renewing my firearm licence, what a gentleman – and a patient one at that. I can only imagine the amount of negative feedback this member has to shield from what we all know is a very impatient public regarding the waiting for licences to be forwarded to the station.”

He added that it was so refreshing as an honest, taxpaying and law abiding citizen to visit the station and receive such professional and comforting service from members who were employed on taxpayers’ money to serve and protect ordinary citizens. “[I] cannot express enough what an asset these members must be to your team,” the letter concluded.
