Saints strikes gold in exams

LYME PARK - St Stithians College are very pleased with their matric results this year and two of their pupils have struck gold.

Grace Zhao, of St Stithian’s Girls’ College excelled in her examinations and she has big dreams for her future. She achieved a whopping nine distinctions for Accounting, Afrikaans First Advanced Language, English Home Language, French Second Additional Language, Life Orientation, Life Sciences, Mathematics, Physical Sciences and Advanced Programme Mathematics. She worked her way to the top IEB one per cent for a few of her subjects namely, Life Sciences, Mathematics, Physical Science and Advanced Programme Mathematics.

This determined and talented pupil, qualified for the school’s Academic Honours Summa Cum Laude Award as she achieved a 90 per cent average for her top seven subjects. She would like to study biomedical engineering in America.

Michael de Vos of the boys’ college also excelled in his examinations and the school is exceptionally proud of him. He has been placed on the IEB’s list for Outstanding Achievement as he is in the top 5 per cent of learners nationally in six or more subjects and obtained 80 per cent or more for Life Orientation. He obtained a commendable result with 7 distinctions for English Home Language, Afrikaans First Additional Language, Mathematics, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, History and Life Orientation. He would like to pursue a career in the field of business sciences. He achieved a result in the top 1 per cent of IEB candidates in Afrikaans First Additional Language, English Home Language, Life Orientation, Life Sciences and Physical Sciences.

He is a jack of all trade and was also in the Dukes and the Boys’ College Choir. He was also a leader during his school career and was head of house for Webb house.
