50 houses demolished in Lombardy West

LOMBARDY WEST – Illegal occupants of municipal land are removed on 14 December.

Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar, Metro Police spokesperson, has said that they are observing a situation in Lombardy West where 50 illegally half-built households were demolished.

“The households were demolished by order of the sheriff from the municipal land,” said Minnaar.

He said that the operation was carried out by a private company, Metro Police and the department of housing.

“I can’t confirm the name of the private company,” said Minnaar.

Lombardy West resident, Thabiso Mangena said the people that erected houses on the land were from Alexandra. “There are two empty plots in the are and the people were forcing to stay,” said Mangena.
