Four years since Johannesburg businessman went missing

JOBURG – Do you know anything about the disappearance of Nazeer Mohammed?

It has been four years since Johannesburg businessman, Nazeer Mohammed went missing from his car dealership in Jeppestown on 7 December 2012.

IRS Forensic Investigations recently made representations to the chief prosecutor of the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court to have charges of kidnapping brought against the men found guilty of possessing personal property belonging to the missing businessman.

On 6 December, the IRS representation was approved by the court and the senior state prosecutor has given specific instructions to the investigating officer.

The two men found in possession of Mohammed’s two vehicles and cellphone were sentenced to six years in jail on 29 August.

Robert Nembaka and Rotshidzwa Netshiavha were convicted in November last year of stealing Mohammed’s cellphone, Toyota Corolla and Opel Astra registered to Mohammed’s car dealership.

Glenda Paul, director of IRS Forensic Investigations, said she, along with her team, would not rest until those responsible for Mohammed’s disappearance were brought to book.

Mohammed’s mother, Shaieda Seepye said the past four years have been difficult for them and all they wanted was closure. “My son was a breadwinner and was taking care of us,” she said. “At that time, we did not even apply for pension and now we are forced to apply because we can’t make ends meet.”

The parents said they have left Mohammed’s room and his clothes as they were, hoping that one day their son would come home.

“Our health has gone right down,” added the distraught mother. “My husband is always sick and I am also getting sick and we just can’t take it anymore.”
