Inyoni Creek’s beautiful gardens on show next year

LINKSFIELD – Next year, your gardening interest can blossom in this beautiful event.

An oasis of calm awaits visitors to Inyoni Creek Retirement Village in February next year when the owners of 11 lovingly tended cottages and apartments open their gardens to the public as part of the Gardens of the Golden City initiative.

The Rand Aid-associated retirement village is a haven of indigenous trees, shrubs, succulents and colourful mass plantings. There are also beautiful communal gardens and a dam partly bordered with willows and lined with reeds and bulrushes.

The individual gardens vary from formal Italian style with topiary, hanging baskets and pots, to English country gardens with water features and fish ponds, lush rose gardens and a courtyard garden.

On entry, a detailed map of the individual gardens will be provided and guests will be able to enjoy a tea garden at the village.

“The residents are working tirelessly in their gardens and the recent rains, although causing a little damage, were very welcome,” said the manager of Inyoni Creek, Jenny Tonkin.

She said that the public must make sure to circle 4 and 5 February in their diaries.

Gardens are open from 10am to 5pm, Saturday and Sunday.

Inyoni Creek Reitrement Village is situated on the corner of Modderfontein and Wordsworth roads in Lyndhurst.
