Road users urged to be patient with M1 rehab delays

JOBURG – JRA is requesting road users to plan their journeys and to consider public transport as M1 rehab delays will affect traffic.

The M1 upgrade completion will now be delayed to September next year due to labour unrest that took place between April and August this year.
According to the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA), the project which began in February this year, is still within its R210-million budget, despite all the challenges faced over the past couple of months.
Addressing the media, Johannesburg MMC for Transport Helen Makhuba requested patience from all road users as delays will affect traffic and urged commuters to consider public transport or alternative routes.

The JRA has called on road users to familiarise themselves with the lane reductions and to plan their journeys in advance.
