Get a ‘moo-ving’ for cancer patients

RIVERSANDS – A memory bike to honour loved ones who lost their battle with cancer.

A memory bike in honour of those who lost their battle with cancer will be unveiled by The Cows at the 20th Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge taking place at Riversands Commercial Park on 20 November.
The Cows, a fundraising arm of the Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa (CHOC), come together annually in support of the foundation and all the children who are fighting cancer.
According to The Cows, the memory bike is their way of remembering and celebrating the lives of all the CHOC children and family members who have been lost to cancer.
To signify this, the bike is a tandem bike without a rear rider. Its seat is left empty and will instead be replaced by a flag carrying the names of those who have died of cancer.
“Being The Cows, and living out our mantra of LoveLivingLife, the memory bike is about honouring lives and remembering our loved ones in the best way possible, so don’t expect this to be a sad affair,” said The Cows in a statement.
“The bike will be leaving just after the main herd on race day with music playing and accompanied by some of our world-renowned Apocalypse Cows to assist and support any Cows out on the road. It’s about having a party, celebrating and bringing home the final herd.”
Details: For those who would like to support the memory bike and who wish to have the names of their loved ones on the flag, they can visit the online donation site on www.givengain.com/ap/memorybike
