UPDATE: Aftermath of Linksfield flash flood

LINKSFIELD - Multiple cars have been found further down the embankment and in the river below, some washed quite far downstream.

Emer-G-Med Paramedics are back on the scene of the N3 Linksfield flooding and are assisting in a search and rescue operation

Multiple cars have been found further down the embankment and in the river below, some washed quite far downstream.

At this stage it’s believed that the drivers left their cars there, and no further fatalities or injuries have been reported to date.

The police airwing and the City of Johannesburg’s specialist Swift Water Rescue team are still combing the area in search of any further victims.

Large numbers of motorists have parked their cars on the highway to spectate the rescue efforts.  Emer-G-Med would like to discourage this and asks all motorists to continue as usual, as this is adding to traffic congestion on the freeway.

A video of a group of South Africans forming a human chain to help each other during the Joburg floods is going viral on social media.
