Halloween bash in Parkview

PARKVIEW – George Hay Park was full of spooky fun this past weekend.

The Halloween bash, organised by the Parkview Residents Association recently in Parkview was a great success as hundreds of residents gathered at George Hay Park for some spooky fun.

Children of all ages, along with adults, dressed as witches, ghouls, zombies, ghosts and movie characters for Halloween.
The event held best-dressed competitions for different categories and hosted several food and game stalls.
“Once again we were thrilled by the great turnout at the Parkview Residents Association’s annual Halloween party. Thank you to everyone who helped with the night,” said Theresa Gibbon, the association’s communications, and marketing officer.

In lieu of an entrance fee, attendees were asked to bring pet food which is being distributed by The Society for Animals in Distress to one of their outreach programmes. Tons of pet food were brought in by various residents.
“The pet food donated by the bash could not have come at a more appropriate time and was collected the morning of 2 November and driven briskly up to Steynsrus in the Free State where a team of 10 Society for Animals in Distress employees are conducting a major outreach this week treating and educating the animals of the indigent Steynsrus community. Thank you to all the caring residents, your pet food is really going to those in need,” commented Holly Doherty, fundraising manager for The Society for Animals in Distress.

Pupils from Parktown High School for Girls ran the children’s games while about 50 volunteers were there to help.
Some families chose matching costumes while others preferred to fully disguise their faces in paint, fake blood, and masks.
