Victoria Orange Grove residents come together for local braai

ORANGE GROVE – Residents and security company network and socialise at local braai.

Local residents came together for an afternoon of fun at a braai hosted by the Victoria Orange Grove Residents Association this past weekend.

The street braai, hosted several times a year, saw residents come together to network, socialise and discuss important issues affecting the community, including neighbourhood safety and security.

Joining in on the festivities were security company, ADT as well as local Italian supermarket and deli, Super Sconto, which provided a jumping castle and authentic Italian treats.

Speaking about the fun afternoon, Natasha Springfield, community manager for ADT, hailed such strong community relations as a good way to improve neighbourhood security.

“We really encourage residents to get to know their neighbours and also get involved in their local Community Policing Forum, engage with local residents associations and not be a passenger. We all have a role to play in keeping our neighbourhoods safe,” she said.

Theunis Kotze, inland regional manager for the security company said if community members stood together and looked after each other, it would go a long way in making suburbs no-go zones for criminals.
