Robbers storm store in Rosebank Mall

ROSEBANK - An elderly woman was injured in a robbery at a local mall earlier this afternoon.

According to reports, an elderly woman was injured during a mall robbery at the Rosebank Mall.

The robbers stormed a cellphone shop in the mall earlier this afternoon. It is believed that they ordered the customers to lie down on the floor. They then allegedly assaulted the woman.

Netcare 911 paramedics treated the woman for a minor head injury at the scene.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Athlenda Mathe, said, “An elderly woman was assaulted when robbers came into a cellphone shop at the Rosebank Mall at around 9am. The robbers instructed the customers in the store to get on the floor. It was then that the woman was assaulted by the robbers. She was treated for head injuries at the scene.”

Gaby Peters, marketing manager of Rosebank Mall said, “The incident occurred at the Telkom store. The woman had a few bruises and she was transported to a nearby hospital. Together with Rosebank police, the matter is currently under investigation.”

According to Sergeant Bongi Mdletshe, spokesperson for Rosebank Police Station, who confirmed the incident, said, “We are unsure how much was stolen from the store as the matter is still under investigation.”
