Lombardy East resident tackles death in new book

LOMBARDY EAST – Author and writer tackles issue of death in thought-provoking book.

Seasoned writer and scriptwriter, Judy Barnes, tackles the issue of death in her new thought-provoking book, Deep talk – death does not exist.

The recently released book by the Lombardy East resident sees Barnes use her son’s near-death experience and her mother’s battle with terminal cancer as a basis to take on the issue.

“These two events were definitely signposts to the ‘bigger picture’ about life and death and how closely intertwined they were; my mother spoke about her moments after she had died, and not in her head, but the way we hear anyone else who speaks to us. Not only was this a shock, but it was also a revelation,” she said.

“Today, knowledge about spirituality and death is freely available and much has been written about it; it is not a mystery any longer if we care enough to explore the subject.”

Speaking of her childhood, Barnes, born and bred in Australia, shared how, despite her upbringing in a Christian home and going to church, as a young woman she realised there had to be more to Christianity.

Barnes then began challenging Christian teachings and discovered there was more to the biblical adage ‘Ye have but one life’ and she interpreted it to mean that humans have one life, as in, they will never die.

“Attending bible school for two years also made me realise [that] certain teachings were in error as so much had been removed from the bible since it was written, reincarnation in particular. Jesus said, ‘Anything I can do, ye can do also’. He resurrected, so why do we doubt we also can.”

Speaking of challenges in getting the book published, Barnes explained that there were a few, but eventually she decided to go to the USA to get international exposure. This gamble paid off, with the feedback being positive and readers calling Barnes to share the impact the book had had on their lives through its message.

Barnes said she hoped that those reading the book would no longer be mystified by death, but would be able to talk about it freely. “I also hope [through reading the book that] readers will embrace the truth about death and be comforted that, when they die, they will not lie in the grave till the last trumpet,” she concluded.

Readers interested in purchasing the book can contact Barnes for more information on where and how to purchase it.
