IT geniuses take coveted accolades

PARKTOWN – Hyde Park High information technology pupils are winners.

 

Hyde Park High School Grade 12 information technology (IT) pupils participated in the IT Showcase held at Roedean School.

This competition requires pupils to show their major IT programming projects and the day saw participants displaying their software to the judges who are respected IT experts and other pupils who came to observe.

Some of the schools which participated in the competition included St Benedicts in Bedfordview, Crawford Colleges and Penryn College in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga.

Fun ceramics in Hyde Park

Hyde Park High pupils, Blake Denham and Samuel Hindson, made it to the top 10 and moved on to the next round. The pair went on to win first and second place respectively. Denham received the prize for the most advanced code and Hindson received the prize for the best gaming app.

Denham won a laptop, a tablet and speakers while Hindson walked away with a laptop, a camera and speakers.

Inter-house fun at Hyde Park High

Hyde Park High principal Manolis Vogiatzis said he was proud of the school’s IT pupils, and the achievement of Denham and Hindson showed that the standard of the school’s teaching was of the highest level.

“They are two very capable pupils who have gone up against the best in their field and come through shining,” Vogiatzis proudly said.
