Animal activists gather in Rosebank

ROSEBANK - A group of animal rights activists have gathered in Rosebank on 3 October.

The protest is led by animal rights group voices for animals unite, who have congregated in front of the Starbucks in Rosebank to shed light the abuse and killing of dogs and cats for the purpose of food in various countries.

Spokesperson for the group Liezl Watts said they aim to help the plight of Asian pets.

Watts said, “They are being brutally tortured, most of them are stolen pets. They get beaten, electrocuted and boiled while they’re still alive. They are then eaten because Asians believe that the more torture you inflict on this poor animal the better it tastes.”

Watts calls for the local community to support various initiatives including Save Korean Dogs.

This is a developing story and updates will follow.
