Rosebank company donates stationery to Alex school

ALEXANDRA – A Rosebank-based financial company donates stationery to the Grade R children of Ikage Primary School.

More than 100 underprivileged Grade R children at Ikage Primary School were given stationery to help them throughout the rest of the year.

Rosebank-based Atlas Finance said they were alerted to the needy children of Ikage by NGO Adopt-A-School, and they decided to play their part in helping where they could.

“We decided as a company it was a good thing to do, especially to support a school in an area where we do a lot of our business,” said Chantelle le Roux, marketing manager of the small loans company, most of whose clients come from the poorer communities.

Le Roux added that her company was given a list of requirements for the Grade R class by Adopt-A-School, which has a database of all the underprivileged schools with critical needs.

The financial company had arrived at the school with bags of stationery for 93 pupils, only to be told by the teachers there were 102 in dire need and that it would be unfair for some to get and others not. Le Roux told the school that they would donate whatever they have now and deliver the balance of the stationery as soon as it had been sourced.

Deputy principal of the school, Matshidiso Mokoena thanked Atlas Finance for coming to the rescue of their little ones, whom she described as the ‘Madibas of tomorrow’, in reference to the iconic statesman and former president Nelson Mandela.

Le Roux said they were hoping to build a relationship with the school and keep making such donations where they were needed.
