Sacred Heart Music Festival to host iconic stars of African music

JOBURG – Musicians set to dazzle the crowd at Sacred Heart Music Fest

Sacred Heart College is ready to host the third edition of the Sacred Heart Music Festival showcasing the rich melodic sounds of iconic South African musicians on 24 September.

They will be hosting multi-platinum artist, Lira, legendary Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse and international award winning DJ, Black Coffee at their annual music fest. It will begin with the Hearts into the Future Family cycle ride (official Freedom Ride) at 9.30am.

There will be an entertainment area for children, food vendors and music to entertain the whole family. Families are invited to bring a picnic to the festival or take advantage of the delicious food on sale and enjoy Heritage Day while listening to a musical celebration of African music.

The iconic, Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse, will enthrall the audience with his chart-topping hits. South African Music Awards (Samas) award-winning artist, Lira brings her Afro-soul music to the festival. The first South African to win the Black Entertainment Television (Bet), Best International Act – Africa; while Black Coffee brings resounding beats to the festival.

Legendary DJ Bob Mabena and Mo-G from Kaya FM will compére the festival. Rise Academy DJs will also be on the decks in support. The evening will wrap up on a high note with Kaya FM’s The Rhythm Session DJs on the decks.

A portion of proceeds will go towards the Three2Six education programme. The Three2Six programme, supported by Sacred Heart College, provides a bridging educational programme for Grade R to Grade 6 refugee children who have been denied access to public education.

Head of Sacred Heart College, Colin Northmore, encouraged people to unite and embrace each other’s diversity, saying we are all Africans. “I am hoping that on a day like this we can share our common humanity and we can come together and enjoy each other’s company. I am hoping that more people can join us to get to see what a wonderful opportunity exists when we celebrate the diversity that is South Africa,” he said.
