Get networking in city hotspots

JOBURG – Maboneng, Braamfontein and Diepsloot are soon to become networking hot spots.

A place where South African and Dutch entrepreneurs can connect, work together and expand their businesses – this is the mission of Orange Corners.

Orange Corners is a network of collaborative workspace in multiple venues, starting on 15 September in Maboneng, Braamfontein and Diepsloot.

The Kingdom of the Netherlands launched Orange Corners in partnership with top-tier organisations including the University of the Witwatersrand, among others.

Dutch Ambassador, Marisa Gerards, explained, “Our mission is to establish an innovative support system for entrepreneurs and to truly partner with them in their business journeys.

“A key element of the initiative is to link companies, individuals and knowledge institutes from South Africa and the Netherlands with each other, thereby not only combining our separate expertise for joint solutions but also strengthening the relationship between South Africa and the Netherlands.”

The Orange Corners programme is, therefore, a platform for entrepreneurs to learn, grow their businesses, expand their professional networks and stimulate their creativity. This will be achieved by providing training, business mentorship and fostering strategic connections between South African and Dutch businesses.

The aim is to contribute to South Africa’s economic growth by creating an environment for local entrepreneurship to thrive. In doing so, the initiative also provides a place to access a network of like-minded individuals for Dutch entrepreneurs.

In the first year, approximately 45 entrepreneurs will be selected to participate in the programme. These entrepreneurs will have access to collaborative workplaces at a reduced cost and receive intensive training and business mentorship.

Orange Corners will have dedicated business development support to assist entrepreneurs with day-to-day challenges. It will also link entrepreneurs with mentors from key partners such as Shell, Heineken and Vopak, to name a few.

In essence, Orange Corners allows for universities, companies and other organisations to connect via a range of courses, seminars, coaching sessions, internships, temporary jobs and distant learning programmes. By bringing them under one roof, they are creating an environment where entrepreneurs are constantly challenged and motivated to succeed.

The first 30 entrepreneurs who have already been selected to be a part of Orange Corners will be presented on 15 September in Maboneng.
