Police arrest suspects for business break-in and theft

JOBURG – Jeppe police arrest two suspects in possession of stolen goods.

Jeppe police officers arrested two suspects for a business break-in and theft.

A 67-year-old businessman closed his business on 30 August, then, at 3.15am the following morning, he received a call from Stallion Security informing him of a break-in at his business.

Captain Richard Munyayi of Jeppe Police Station said the businessman rushed to his business premises and found the security guards waiting for him. “Upon investigating, they found that a roller door was forced open and a window was broken. The suspects gained entry through the broken window and came out through the roller door that was forced open,” said Munyayi.

They also noticed that some tools and other items were missing.

Two suspects, aged 24 and 27, were arrested the same day in possession of the stolen goods, not far from the scene. They will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court soon, while police investigations continue.

Jeppe Police Station forms part of the Johannesburg East cluster, which includes, Cleveland, Jeppe, Hillbrow, Rosebank, Parkview, Norwood and Yeoville police stations.
