The movement is coming

JOBURG – A city-based DJ promotes the music of other musicians, through a new movement.

In the music industry, there’s a need for local promotion, and even though the SABC’s 90 percent quota is helping push it, there’s someone else who wants to assist in the fight to get local music at the forefront.

Established by Hector Dibakaone aka The XquiziFire, in 2012, the Xquizified Movement is an initiative created to ‘push finest art through events and annual music compilations to help and build upcoming artists to be the best they can be’.

The Xquizifire explained why it was imperative for him to open a space such as this for up and coming artists in the music industry. “I saw the lack of platforms for artists to showcase their artistry and build themselves as artists,” he said.

Being a DJ, hot on the Johannesburg music scene, The XquiziFire creates an annual music compilation to promote artists by hosting and pushing their music through a number of events and promotional campaigns. The word Xquizified is an adjective created by the DJ who explained that it meant ‘verified’ and that it’s real or ‘dope’ (a slang term meaning cool) enough that it needs to be seen and heard on a large scale.

“It’s a word that can be used to describe something that is exquisitely original or compliment something that’s dope,” he continued.

The latest compilation album is due to be released in the upcoming months, but the DJ has not yet divulged the date.

It’s the third offering from the Xquizified Movement and it’s titled Xquizified Hip-Hop vol III, using the theme, Hustle.

The compilation features artists such as Penwell Green, O’red, Taylor T, Chris of Peace, Blak Rose, Sulphur, D-Man, Ty Steez, Lyrical Tip, Hitman CEO, Whally, Katsuko and The XquiziFire himself.

The movement is alive and the talent of up and coming musos is just waiting to be discovered.
